In Chestnut 2 classroom, we are focusing on growing independence skills and beginning to complete longer tasks. Some children in Chestnut 2 complete work on a ‘TEACCH’ style basis, learning to follow a schedule of activities therefore developing independence.
We enjoy completing circle times together before breaking off to do independent tasks. Some of these circle times include TACPAC, playdough disco, singing, action songs and speaking and listening activities. Within our speaking and listening time, children are learning to take turns and listen to the person speaking. We are learning to communicate effectively with others, signing, using objects of reference and symbols as well as participating in ‘intensive interaction’.
